Manchester Orchestra + Kevin Devine = Bad Books

Manchester Orchestra’s Andy Hull has confirmed he has a project with Kevin Devine. The name of the group is Bad Books, and they are set to release their debut on October 19th. Head over to their Facebook profile to check out a clip from ‘You Wouldn’t Have To Ask’. The album is said to feature 10 tracks 5 written by Andy and 5 from Kevin. It will feature full backing from the rest of Manchester Orchestra and to say the least, I’m pretty psyched to hear more from this project.

Guns N’ Roses cancel ALL up-coming shows

I’ve been away for a few days and on my return I see a tweet from the official Axl Rose twitter account stating ‘All Upcoming Guns ‘N Roses dates are officially cancelled. Please contact your place of purchase for any refunds’. Whether or not this is the real deal or just Axl throwing one of his world famous tantrums it is yet to be seen. If it is true it means over 30 dates will be cancelled including their Headline sets in 2 weeks at Reading and Leeds Festival in the UK. More on this story as we get information from numerous sources…
UPDATE: According to the G n’ R camp Axl’s twitter has been hacked/ the password is stolen. More to come.
UPDATE 2: More craziness this morning. However the BBC are now claiming that Axl’s account was hacked. Still no OFFICIAL confirmation from G n’ . BBC say “Latest Guns N’ Roses update - Reading and Leeds Say Axl Rose’s Twitter account was hacked, and the band will still play next weekend”. This still doesn’t really confirm whether their up coming UK and American dates after Reading and Leeds are cancelled but they will honour their headline sets at the festivals…?! More news as this develops.
UPDATE 3: Kerrang speak with a G ‘N R rep who says it was hacked. See HERE

Watch: Queens of the Stone age w/ Mark Lanegan
After far too long spent away from American soil, well any soil for that matter, Queens of The Stone Age have made a triumphant return to form at the Brian O’Connor Benefit in LA on Thursday. With Eagles of Death Metal making their appearance. Followed by surprise sets from The Last Shadow Puppets and Alain Johannes. Queens played a 19 song set featuring songs from across their catalogue, including ‘Feel Good Hit of The Summer’, ‘No One Knows’ and ‘A Song For The Dead’. Now the icing on the cake was the encore in which Mark Lanegan joined Queens on stage to perform some tracks from Songs For The Deaf. For a full write up head on over to CoS or Spin, and for a sneak peak watch ‘In The Fade’ from QOTSA’s set featuring Lanegan.

Watch: Pulled Apart By Horses - ‘High Five, Swan Dive, Nose Dive’
After a day of the video being exclusive to NME we finally get to post this awesome video for everyone to see! Check out the new video from Leeds’ best export in a few years. Pulled Apart By Horses’ new video consists of skull masks, coloured smoke and the destruction on valuable musical instruments and is pretty f’ing cool. Rock and roll is alive and well in Yorkshire! Enjoy.

The Raconteurs will return…

In an interview with NME Brendan Benson has stated that it is likely The Raconteurs will re-unite and make more sweet music for our listening pleasure. He says “We haven’t talked about it but [doing more is] not out of the question. The Raconteurs is a band that was founded on this impulsive basis..it was always spontaneous for us and we want to keep it that way. So when the time is right and everyone converges we’ll do it”. The last part is the interesting part I guess, “we’ll do it.” So there we have it kids the co front man of the band saying it could happen. Given that he has prior commitments in re-forming The Greenhornes and Jack White seems to want to play with anyone who can scratch a wash board, it could be a while before this actually happens.
So we can still hope for more music from the band but I wouldn’t advise you begin holding your breath just yet as you will die a painful death before getting to hear the new material! If you click the NME link you can watch the video interview as the embed code was a bit naff. Enjoy.
